How to create a word cloud with your group

  1. Choose an open question

Add a word cloud question that invites a short answer. For example: Which word describes good collaboration?

  2. Invite participants to answer

Start the presentation and share the code or QR link. Participants type their answers on their phones.

  3. Explore the words together

Show the word cloud and look at the words that come up most often. Ask for examples and explanations before drawing conclusions about the group’s experience.

Word cloud question examples

  • What word describes how you’re coming into this meeting?
  • What do you associate with today’s topic?
  • What do we need more of when we work together?
  • Which concept would you like to understand better?
  • What will you take away from the training?

Keep the question focused and ask for a short answer. For longer answers, use an open-ended question. Discuss similar words and different spellings with the group when useful.

A starting point for discussion

A larger word appears more often. Its size doesn’t show how important it is to each person. Use a word cloud to open a conversation and gather first impressions. Follow up with a scale or poll for a more focused answer.

Joining without an account does not guarantee full anonymity. Choose questions that don’t require personal data and avoid sensitive or confidential answers. Read how Votaneo handles data.
